Book this journeyA car-free resort
Zermatt has banned combustion vehicles for decades, so no road transfer can set you down in the resort itself. The terminus is Täsch, five kilometres short, where you find the Matterhorn Terminal car park and the railway station.
From Täsch, the shuttle train reaches Zermatt in twelve minutes, roughly every twenty minutes. Electric buggies then run to the hotels. We walk you to the platform with your luggage and point you to the connection.
The route
A1 then A9 through Lausanne, Montreux, Martigny and Sion as far as Visp. The Matter valley then climbs for some thirty kilometres to Täsch. It is a mountain road, narrow in places and regularly snow-covered, which on its own justifies a driver who knows it.
Mind the connection. If you land late, check the time of the last Täsch-Zermatt train of the day. We build that into your Geneva departure time, but a heavily delayed flight can call for an alternative that we arrange with you.
When to book
The length of the journey and the rail connection make advance booking especially worthwhile. Allow a week during holiday periods, forty-eight hours the rest of the year.
